Ryan Villopoto has won three consecutive races, and was able to survive the pressure brought on by Chad Reed. Unfortunately, Chad Reed took a vicious crash and will not be able to race for the rest of the year. Now, we are down to three main title contenders Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, and James Stewart. Villopoto has everything going for him right now, and he feels confident he can win races. Dungey is on a new team this year with a new bike, and he still has not been able to find his speed. Then there is James Stewart, nothing seems to be going his way this year. Stewart has had so many crashes this year and has left himself over 40 points behind Villopoto for the championship.
If Villopoto can keep up his dominating performances, he will surely be the champion of the 2012 supercross season. Some people will argue that James Stewart should be ahead of Villopoto right now in the championship chase, if it were not for some of Stewart's crashes. I highly doubt that because, in two seperate races Villopoto came back from dead last to finish 3rd and 4th. He has had his own bad luck this year, but he has been able to pull through each time. Check out race # 8 at Atlanta Georgia this saturday at 7:30 on speed! and Good luck to Reed on his recovery.
I have to agree with you there without Reed to pose a challenge Villopoto will undoubtly win the championship if he stays on the streak he's currently in.
