Well, eight races in and Ryan Villopoto still only has four race wins. Unfortunately he came up short last weekend with a second place. That just shows how important the start is; when a racer starts in the back of the pack it is harder to get that race win. The good news is that he is stretching out his points lead over James Stewart, who finished third last weekend in Atlanta.
Ryan Dungey is only 10 points behind Villopoto and the season is not even half way over. This season is shaping up to be a battle between the Ryans. Villopoto does have the advantage though, because has the confidence of four race wins this year, and he has consistently been one of the fastest racers when it comes to lap times. Plus, Ryan Dungey has not really been able to match his lap times. Villopoto's chances of winning the championship are still looking very good!
Villopoto's got a better shot to win simply because he is more consistent than Dungey. I think if Villopoto keeps up the way he is going then he will be the champion hands down.
